Apple pie - Lidl

For our new written review series we went to three different grocery stores to try three apple pies. We went to the four biggest grocery stores, Lidl, Jumbo and Plus. Which apple pie is the best go to.

I went to Lidl to get my apple pie. Lidl is known for being the best grocery store at veggies and fruit, so my hopes are high for the apple pie. Inside the shop I searched for pies and pastries but couldn’t find them. When I asked one nice employee, he led me to the fridges. All the pies they sell are in the freezer so that was a bit surprising. I find the apple pie in a coloured cardboard box, it looks fine. I only am a bit disappointed because I wanted to eat apple pie so bad and instead, I must wait till it is defrosted. I do not know how the pie looks like yet because there is only a picture on top of the box but that does not always tell. So, I do not know if I find it very attractive as a product.

At home, the next day the pie is defrosted and ready to eat. I was so excited because it looked better than I thought. The only thing that caused second thinking is how shiny the apples are and unfortunately not only the apples, the cake biscuit also is. At first I tasted the apple,it was super chewy but I did not dislike it. Second came the biscuit and it tasted good at first. Not too sweet. After a few bites all the flavours blend in together so it is pleasant to finfish the slice. Overall a ok apple pie. Nothing can compare a homemade one but that is something we all know.  At last the price, 1,99 euro. Super cheap if you ask me. Value for money is wonderful.

I'll give this cake a: 7
